BLOCKOUT as of 23/05/09
Okay here's the blockout as of today, pretty much all the character animation is at least blocked out, or we know how it is going to work at least. The main shot I haven't even started or thought about so far is Shot 49 in which the prisoner grabs the bandit - and I will be getting reference and starting that this weekend to then give to Kanika to do the marshalls and sheriff being bowled over.
Also, the shot at the very end in which he pulls at the bars and one starts to come loose. This is something that may be fun to film at Uni, as we have bars on the windows in the 2nd yr room.

Where we have to go to celebrate after the film is done...

Schedule WC 13/04/09

Okay so this is the deal, 9 weeks til 304 submission and 11 weeks til Degree Show film submission. In a good position but need to start cracking through the animation. Got the edit done today which will help us in alot of ways and save time later on. Just need that prisoner rig and then all characters can be animated. Then once we start getting animated shots we can whack them in the environments as Sam textures them, then hopefully start doing some renders to start compositing it together and finalising the film. All coming together but lets not rest on our laurels!
*!NEW!* Blockout
This is the newest blockout with the royalty free music replacing the non-royalty free tunes of before...so that allows us to use it anywhere. One little thing is that for some reason blogger and youtube drop still frames - so there are a couple of shots missing...but you get the idea...

CRUNCH TIME!...

Right...it really is crunch time now guys, just to put it into perspective..its nearly March (as of Sunday) and the film has to be done by 19th June.
That gives us 112 days...or 3 full months and 3 weeks - which sounds like a lot, but it isn't. So everyone has to pull their finger out...including me, I'm going to be coming into Uni a lot more, so if people wana join me that's great, if they wana work at home thats fine, but everyone has to come in for at least one late a week.
We need to get these characters rigged and textured, and then we gota bash out the stepped animation of the film and get it together, cos atm the old blockout is not where we are at all.

Term 2 Schedule - WC 12/01

New term, new start and a new refreshed schedule! We all kinda know where we are but a meeting on the first day back would be good. We've luckily made more progress than we originally planned. With us all getting on with character modeling and Ajdin working on the train we have really made up some time. It nows means that we have a total of 12 weeks animating which I'm sure Matt will be happy about. First 3-4 weeks this term will be all modeling, texturing, rigging and lighting everything and then Matt will start animating properly at some point in there as rigging starts to finish. I'll keep updating this weekly and keep emailing it out as usual now!

3D BLOCKOUT W/SOUND
Right you cheeky chappies, first I have to apologize to matt (clinch) for massacaring his sound design from the aniamtic, but i've ripped it apart an added some music from another short film to give more of an idea of what i imagine for the final film.
The blockout elements are about 75% done
Notice, wilhelm screams, chicken sounds and the music beginning again subtlely at the end to suggest him escaping and it all starting again...all these must be in final thing also. I'm also not 100% sure the original premise of he's on a train going straight to prison is coming through - so I think there should be a sign in one of the shots in the background, but that's just scene dressing...
Animatic w/sound
Here's the sound for the animatic courtesy of Matt Clinch, which is going to be really nice for the pitch this friday, obviously doesn't have music, and there is to be a couple of changes, ie, the whistle! But seeing it was from the storyboards an a loose description of what's going on im really happy with it. It will also be a lovely addition to the future website to show all the parts of the pipeline.

Schedule WC 24/11

Everyone should know where they are this week. We should all be doing blockout animation and nothing else as far as I know. If we get this all done by next Monday then we can get it all cut into the animatic by the time we have the pitch and we could have some nice sound cut in as well hopefully. Then next week we will be getting the digital boards knocked up for the group pitch.

3D Blockout Intro Version 1
I have started blocking out some of the shots roughly in 3D and I am replacing them in the animatic to see how they are working in context with all the other shots. Modeling all these elements and animating these parts was a solid days work so it gives me and idea of what is achievable also in certain time periods. I will continue to blockout other shots in the coming weeks before the pitch. Matt, Sam and Josh are also working on other parts of the animatic and we will edit these all in together at the end of term.
Finally!

WC 17/11 Schedule

This weeks schedule is pretty much the same as previous weeks. Obviously everyone except Tony is blocking out and Tony is concentrating on some of his own work as well as some more illustration for the character sheets. Also everyone needs to bear in mind they need to get essays and presentations done for our other units as well as the Industry Day stuff for PPD.

Schedule WC 10/11

This is the schedule for this week. This is the last week for everyone to really finish environment concepts and then we need to get on to blockouts. Tony and Matt have a couple of weeks still to finish expression and character pose drawings and then we will start making up the mood boards for the group pitch.

Initial Budget
This is a rough budget for our show. As you can see the final costs could be quite expensive. Doing the 360 raffle could be really good and I think doing this will raise alot of cash for us. Also doing it before Xmas might give people more incentive to win a prize. Must do this in the next 2-3 weeks ideally.
BLOCK OUT
SAM: Whole Mine section with train, and character models.
HARVEY: Start until mines, environments.
JOSH: From out of mines until end, prison inside and out, character models and blocking.
KANIKA: Inside of train carriages.
MATT: Character blockouts/animation.
Also anyone that wants to develop the characters in low poly form feel free ^_^

27/10 Schedule

This is the schedule for the week commencing 27/10. I have revised the work accordingly with the work achieved in the previous 2 weeks of the term. Each person has been assigned individual areas in the individual schedules. This will be updated weekly like this from now on.
This week we need to be mainly working on environment research and designs, revising the narrative and animatic, finalising the character designs and also working on style and props. Also some of you may be starting in 3D with experiments and tests.

New Schedule

This is a view of what the new schedule now looks like. I have extending it all the way to the end of the project including the marketing we have in mind. I have also colour coded it better to show each stage of the production more clearly. Ideally I will update the schedule weekly with the progress we have made and the new re-assessed deadlines and targets as our workflow progresses.
I will also be emailing this on a weekly basis to all group members. I feel this is very important as a producer to keep people on track with their workloads.
Presentation Board Templates

This is an image of the templates I have made up for our presentation boards. I feel it is important we have a generic look about all our work and this will in turn re-inforce our brand identity for the film. All group members will be supplied with these in A1, A2 and A3 PSD files and they can then add their own work to them to create our mood boards, character designs and environment concepts.
Contracts

Contracts are an important feature of the production to ensure everyone knows what they are assigned to do and so that they keep to their deadlines as a contracted member of the team. I have drawn up these as producer for each member of the group for our reference and there is also a sound designer version. These can be re-versioned should additional people work on our project.
